The simulation of the self-assembly on membranes and reaction and diffusion can be carried out successfully on the mesoscale, first simplifying the transport vesicles to single DPD particles but treating the compartment membranes and their interplay with budding and fusion explicitly, and later extending the DPD treatment to full budding and fusion.
