Patrick Wagler

Patrick Wagler is a chemist working in the area of microsystem technology. He received his PhD in the area of catalytic chemistry at the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis Rostock. After gaining experience in developing microsystems for medical technology at the Institute for Microtechnology in Mainz (IMM) he became head of the group "Evolutionary Microsystems" at the Fraunhofer research group BioMIP from 2000-2004. He lead the microsystem activities at RUB BioMIP 2004-2014 and served as an invited guest lecturer in nanobiotechnology course at Civen (Coordinamento Interuniversitario Veneto per le Nanotecnologie) for several years.

He is a leading figure in microsystem development for the European Integrated Project PACE, ECCell and MATCHIT. His specific research competence is in the design and fabrication of evolvable microfluidic systems for biomolecular processing and reconfigurable multi-layer-microreactors with a focus on biochemical applications. He is co-founder of the spin-off company protostream GmbH and a member of the German Society of Chemists (GdCh) and the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE).
