Favourite hobby while observing in Chile

This is the 80 cm Infred Imaging System (IRIS) of the USB Chile at work. By analyzing optical and infrared observations of different active galactic nuclei (AGN), the structure and size of the inner edge of the dust torus and the broad line region can be determined. With this information, it is possible to derive alternate cosmological distances to these AGN. Currently, we use three robotic telescopes one for the task.
