the first one of each pair is used solely in main text. the charcters in each pair are gener­ally synonyms or have certain meanings in common. and some of them seem to be used inconsistently – depending on radicals of surrounding letters in some cases such as 榱桷梁椽 and 榱桷樑椽 – in each edition, so it is considered to be necessary to unify them. however, the differences between editions still remain in footnotes named ‘seeiv’. these footnotes could be removed if considered to be of no use.
