Frame and fork

Cyclocross-type bike (drop bar) on MTB-wheels, intended for a huge load!

Fork

Stainless steel by Rewel with all mounts

Frame

Stainless steel by Rewel with all mounts

Very durable and easy to repair!

Position

Very variable and comfortable!

Stem

Softride Aluminum PowerStem

Handlebar

Sakae Custom Road (Ø 25,4 mm)

Tape

Xtreme (= Rose) Cork

This combination would be ideal for touring bikes, if the clamp would take grooved drop bars!!! The grooved drop bars are mostly oval and therefore to wide for the clamp!!!

Nothing about this in Softride´s FAQ!

Brooks Conquest

Once broken in, a friend for a lifetime!

Shannon Standard

Rear Sprockets

Chain

Sachs PG 51 (with Powerlink)

Shifter

Suntour Barcons (7speed)

Front Derailleur

Suntour TopPull

Rear Derailleur

Suntour XC Pro (long cage)

Capacity: 39 teeth

The drive train may be outdated, but lasts quite long! 7speed is quite insensible for dirt, UG-sprockets are symmetrical and could be turned around when worn from the second sprocket on. The Barcons with indexfree option are also worth considering. A dream would be a middle chainring made from stainless steel, that could be turned around when worn! Also lasts the Sachs-Chain not even half the mileage a Rohloff SLT 99 does!!!

Brakes

Magura HS 66 (for drop bar)

Powerful but comfortable to hold on!!!

Wheels

Front wheel

Rim

Ritchey Rock SCX

Spokes

(36x) DT Revolution

Hub

Shimano XT (ancient)

The rim could be wider than just 23 mm! There´s nothing negative to tell about the spokes and the hub!

Rear wheel

Rim

Trust DHR

Spokes

(36x) DT Competition

Hub

Shimano XT (7speed / ancient)

Such an wide rim (30 mm) seems strange, but the rear tire will last much longer!!! (unfortunately only in German: "Standard", that leads to damage)

Skewer

Mounty Special Allen-type

Simply long screws with alloy heads! They last longer than some "ChiChi-Aftermarket"-brands!!!

Tires

Michelin Wildgripper (foldable)

Bought in Helsinki... Wear faster as Continental´s Goliath...

Patria LowRider (CrMo)

Rear

Tubus Cargo (CrMo)

Adjust it with just an allen (5 mm) key...

Shimano 105 cup-and-cone

Maintenance with Park Tool Green (SAP 1) and Blue (SAP 3) on tour possible!
